Mahesh Nalla
Mahesh K. Nalla is Professor of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. He received his doctoral degree from State University of New York at Albany (NY) and holds graduate degrees in Criminal Justice (Albany, NY), Social Work (Andhra University, India) and undergraduate degree in Business (India). He teaches in the areas of criminological theory, security management and administration, and comparative criminal justice. Most recently he had worked with the United Nations in coordinating, organizing and conducting research and workshops on best practices for dealing with firearm related violence for member states in four continents. His research interests include issues pertaining to private policing and non-traditional policing, security management, and issues in comparative criminal justice. His current research involves assessing public perceptions of private policing (US), the future of public/private policing, organizational resistance to use of technology by law enforcement agencies (US), correctional officers' attitudes toward higher education (Michigan), and student perceptions on domestic violence (India). In addition to coordinating the criminal justice graduate programs, Professor Nalla serves as the Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice.


Radford P. Jones
B.S., is an Academic Specialist concentrating in security related programs and joint private/public sector cooperative efforts. In 1997, Rad retired as the Manager of Security & Fire Protection, Ford Motor Company, where he was responsible for directing worldwide investigations, executive security matters, and the development/implementation /audit of comprehensive asset protection programs. Prior to joining Ford in 1983, Rad retired after a 20 year career with the U.S. Secret Service. During his career, he was in charge of several major field offices and held supervisory positions in other field offices and headquarter divisions. He was assigned to Presidential and Vice Presidential protective duties for approximately 11 years. Rad is a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and serves on the Private Sector Liaison Committee. He is a member of the International Security Managers Association and American Society of Industrial Security. He served seven years on the Secretary of State's Overseas Security Advisory Council addressing international security problems. He was active in developing investigative protocols for IACP publications on investigation of drugs in the workplace and combating violence in the workplace. He has been involved in developing a number of crime prevention and security awareness programs on a global basis and has received a number of commendations from various associations and organizations for his support and participation in law enforcement and security activities.

If students have personal concerns or questions regarding the course or progress individual emails may be sent directly to the appropriate instructor. Telephone conversations can be arranged. All instructors have voice mail and messages can be left if the student wishes to discuss the matter with an instructor. Personal visits may also be arranged. Students are encouraged to visit the School's faculty members if they are in East Lansing. As instructors travel they may have opportunities to meet with students. Any opportunity for personal contact is encouraged.
